Village Level White Burgundy - Chardonnay. From vines located below 1er Cru ‘Les Charmes’ in the lieu-dits of ‘Les Pellans’. While the incline of the vineyard slopes slightly north toward the township of Meursault with heavy soils, there is a higher portion also. This portion is has a better aspect and shallower, poorer soils. This position along with vines planted in 1945 that are picked at the correct moment, results in nothing short of a very special wine. High toned, perfumed, defined and much more crystalline. More transparent, pure and mineral. Slight matchstick. Palate has the most magnificent structure. One word, incredible. | "A pungent nose freely offers up notes of petrol, matchstick, roasted hazelnut, apple and a pretty array of floral elements. Here too the mouth feel of the intense and more precise flavors is both refined and sleek if not quite as seductive, all wrapped in a powerful, serious, bone dry and youthfully austere finish. This is notably more structured and in contrast to the old vines cuvée, this is going to require at least a few years of bottle age." 90 Points (Outstanding/Top Value) Allen Meadows, Burghound.
