Premier Cru White Burgundy - Chardonnay. “Positioned at the top of the slope to the west of the village, just by a large limestone quarry. Many say this vineyard is more suited to red wine, however this wine and the 2017, for me, is as good as white wine can be. Niellon’s parcel is 0.52 hectares. The Niellon holding is top right, below the quarry. Pale colour with light green reflection. I am not supposed to like this vineyard in white but actually I do here. Racy again but with more flesh on the bones and a little touch of mirabelle.” 92 Points, Jasper Morris: Inside burgundy | “A fine follow-up to the terrific 2017—which continues to show brilliantly from my cellar—Niellon’s 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos Saint-Jean offers up aromas of white currants, citrus oil and pear mingled with notions of toasted bread and nutmeg. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied, satiny and succulent, with racy acids, fine depth and concentration. This is well worth seeking out.” 93 Points, William Kelley: The Wine Advocate | “Intense aromas of lime blossom, white peach, oyster shell and smoke introduce this sleek, vibrant white. Creamy in texture and harmonious, this finishes with echoes of white flowers, lime and pastry. Drink now through 2024.” 93 Points, Bruce Sanderse: Wine Spectator, February 2020
