From vines located below 1er Cru ‘Les Charmes’ in the lieu-dits of ‘Les
Pellans’. While the incline of the vineyard slopes slightly north toward
the township of Meursault with heavy soils, there is a higher portion
also. This portion is has a better aspect and shallower, poorer soils.
This position along with vines planted in 1945 that are picked at the
correct moment, results in the below tasting note. Nothing short of a
very special wine.
"This is also very Meursault in basic character with a slightly riper
combination of floral, ripe white-fleshed fruit, spice and roasted nut
aromas. There is both better density and energy to the utterly
delicious medium weight flavors that coat the palate with dry extract
as the old vines are very much in evidence, all wrapped in a lightly
stony and better delineated finish. Good stuff and recommended."
