A one hectare planting, two thirds planted in the ‘50s and the rest in 1990. Quite high sites; half just below the forest and the other at 400m facing west. Both in shallow soils. A little puppy fat lemonade that sheds in the glass to reveal sea spray and preserved lemon. Lovely interest and tension. Lemon juice, lemon pith and spice. The palate implodes for a moment before a beautiful line of acid and minerality breaks through the youthful core of tightly wound puppy fat. - Jono Hersey, FWC
